Examples of eligibility using immediate family or household
Example: John lives, worships, and works in Columbus, Nebraska. His brother, Bill, lives in Omaha, which is in Douglas County. John can join Centris even if Bill is not a member of the credit union.
Example: Mary lives, worships, and works in Columbus, Nebraska. Her father is John. John’s brother, Bill, lives in Omaha, which is in Douglas County. Mary would like to become a member of Centris. How can she qualify for membership?
Mary is the daughter (child) of John, but John is not a current member. Mary is the niece of Bill, which is not a qualifying individual as defined in “immediate family.” She cannot join through Bill in either case of him being a member or not. John, however, can join the credit union. If John joins as Bill’s brother (sibling), Mary then qualifies to join because she is the daughter (child) of John who is a member.
Example: Peter lives in Grand Island. He has no immediate family in Grand Island. He does not work for one of the listed groups. His parents live in Omaha. Peter can join because his parents live in Omaha. Neither of his parents needs to be a member of Centris, they only have to be eligible.
Example: Scott is employed at one of the SEG employers in Grand Island. His daughter, who lives in Nuckles County, approximately 70 miles away, is eligible for a membership.
Example: Jerome lives in Lincoln, Nebraska. He is an only child. His parents live in New Jersey. He is taking a class at UNO. Jerome can join Centris because he is attending school in Omaha.
Example: Jeff and Sarah live and work in Nebraska City. They attend church most Sundays in Omaha. Jeff and Sarah are both eligible to join Centris because they worship in Omaha.
Example: Tim lives in Seward, Nebraska and attends school there. He works part-time in Lincoln. He is an only child. His mother and father, Sam and Susan, lived in Omaha up until Sam passed. After Sam passed, Susan moved to Arizona. Tim can join Centris because his mother is the spouse of Sam who died while within the field of membership. He is the child of a person eligible for membership. He is eligible as “immediate family” through his mother, who is the spouse of an individual that died while within the field of membership. His mother does not have to be a member in order for Tim to join.
